Autumn Leaf Colours in Japan - October/November 2025

Our autumn and November tours focus on the beautiful fall leaf colours that occur across the country. Many of the cherry trees that provided beautiful blossom in spring provide orange hues while the Japanese maple can provide rich red leaves as well as brilliant yellow and browns.

We make the most of the season to capture the best by heading to areas that provide reliable scenery and also interesting locations. This is covered in our early November tour by heading north of Tokyo to Aomori and Sendai before heading into the Japanese Alps. For the later tour the best colours are usually further south in many locations around Kyoto and also Tokyo.

Autumn Leaf Viewing Tours for 2025

For 2025 our autumn tour slots have been reserved for a set of private tours through October and early November. We will be bringing our usual set of small group tours back for 2026.

For November we are running a more extensive three-week journey planned covering some more remote spots across Japan. Currently the dates are from the weekend of the 15th/16th November through to Saturday 6th December.

This trip has been designed for clients that travelled with us in 2023 including locations off the usual tourist trails and is less typical of a first-time tour to Japan. That is why somewhere like Kyoto does not feature in the schedule. We also intend this to be a smaller trip (a max of six) and we would like to have a good "fit" between the members of the tour as that is important for us and that will also enhance the experience that you have as well.

Price Inclusions/exclusions.

Our pricing includes:

Our tour service, including a dedicated guide for the duration of your tour. That includes a meet&greet at the airport and transfers to the hotel in Tokyo.
Accommodation, averaging 4* - 5* properties and usually including breakfast. We aim to book superior rooms to give additional space and comfort during your trip.
Transport, all train travel, subways, and transfers. Taxis are also covered during the day for our sightseeing as well as the occasional bus connection. (Not flights to/from Japan.)
Entrance fees for temples, shrines, castles, parks, gardens, and museums. These are listed in your agreed tour schedule.
Evening meals at ryokan (Japanese inn) accommodation are normally included as well as breakfast. In general, we do not include lunch and dinner meals because Japan has a huge range of foods and we prefer not to restrict options, especially when food is a significant part Japan.

Exclusions are generally items such as theatre performances, sporting or other special events, theme parks, lunch and evening meals, snacks/drinks and other incidental costs such as hotel room service/laundry.
